About the Mission:

The family of Vietnam War Veteran Paul J. Rydza has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service. Mr Rydza passed away 12 January 2023 in North Carolina.

Mr. Rydza served our nation for 2 years on active duty in the US Army from 1967-1969, with an Army MOS of 11B40-Light Waepons Infantry. He had 12 months of duty in Vietnam, and his final assignment was with 3rd Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team at Fort Jackson, SC. Mr. Rydza was honorably discharged from active duty on 21 May 1969 with the rank of Sergeant (E-5), and he earned the following awards: Army Good Conduct Medal; Combat Infantry Badge; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; 1 Army Overseas Bar; M-14 Rifle Sharpshooter Badge; and M-60 Machine Gun Marksman Badge.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

PGR will stand a respectful flag line during the 2nd half of calling hours from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. The funeral service and Military Honors is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
There is no escort or cemetery involved in this Mission.

Please arrive with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, and dress for the weather. Thank you for devoting your time to help honor the US Army Vietnam War service of Paul J. Rydza, and to support his loving family.
