About the Mission:
Patriot Guard Riders of NY has been requested to stand in honor of the life and service of Paul F. Haas, who passed away on 10 April 2022.
Mr. Haas served our nation for 4 years on active duty in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1976-1980, with a Coast Guard rating of Machinery Technician (MK). Almost the entirety of his duty was sea service, including assignment to the US Coast Guard Cutter Point Steele (WPE-82359). From 1970-1980 this patrol vessel was stationed at Oswego, NY, and carried out search & rescue and law enforcement activities on Lake Ontario. Mr. Haas was honorably discharged from active duty on 4 April 1980 with the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class (E-4), and he earned the U.S. Coast Guard Good Conduct Medal, Rifle Marksmanship Ribbon, and the Cold War Service Medal.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: NYS Guidelines of 2 March 2022, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.
Special Information:
Proud USCG retiree Don "Cheech" Hayes & longtime friend of the Haas family, along with PGR member Tom Johnston, will serve as co-LRCs for this Mission. PGR will standby with a respectful flag line for the arrival of the family and Mr. Haas. KSU at 12:35 PM for the short escort to the WNY National Cemetery, 1254 Indian Falls Road, Corfu, NY 14036 for the 1:00 PM interment ceremony with Military Honors. Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or USCG flag, and dress for the weather.
