About the Mission:

Patriot Guard Riders of NY has been requested to stand in honor of the life and service of Patrick F. Ciccarella, who passed away on 5 August 2022.

Mr. Ciccarella served our nation for 2 years on active duty in the US Navy from 1965-1967, with a Naval rating of Damage Controlman (DC.) The majority of his time was sea service aboard the USS Ranger (CVA-61), a Forrestal-class supercarrier. The USS Ranger was part of Carrier Air Wing 14, and received the Navy Unit Commendation for exceptionally meritorious service during combat operations in Southeast Asia from 10 January to 6 August 1966. Mr. Ciccarella was honorably discharged from active duty on 27July 1967 with the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class (E-4), and he earned the following awards: Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: NYS Guidelines of 2 March 2022, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Special Information:

PGR will provide a respectful flag line for the arrival of the family and guests.  The Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11:30 AM.  Following the Mass and dignified transfer, interment with Military Honors will be rendered at the adjacent Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery.  Please arrive with a clean 3x5 American or US Navy flag, and dress for the weather.
