About the Mission:
The family of Michael J. Holmes has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service. Mr. Holmes of Batavia, NY passed away on 22 December 2023.
Vietnam War Era veteran Michael Holmes served our nation for almost 2 years on active duty in the US Navy from 1975-1976, with a Navy rating of Radioman. He had 13 months of foreign service, stationed at Naval Station Argentia, Newfoundland, Canada. Mr. Holmes was honorably discharged from active duty on 22 September 1976, and he earned the National Defense Service Medal.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.
Special Information:
PGR will provide a respectful flag line for arrival of the family, and during the 1-hour visitation from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM. The funeral service is scheduled for 12:00 PM, followed by the dignified transfer and escort to WNY National Cemetery, 1254 Indian Falls Rd, Corfu, NY 14036 for the 1:00 PM burial with Military Honors.
Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Navy flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are securely attached. Thank you for devoting your time to help honor the US Navy service of Michael J. Holmes, and to support his loving family.
