About the Mission:

The family of Vietnam War Era Veteran Michael C. Steiger has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service. Mr. Steiger of Canandaigua, NY, formerly of Tonawanda, NY, passed away on 15 September 2023.

Mr. Steiger served our nation for 2 years, 5 months on active duty in the US Army from 1970-1972, with an Army MOS of 13A10-Cannoneer. He served 15 months of foreign duty in Germany, assigned to Headquarters & Headquarters Battery, 3rd Battalion, 35th Artillery Regiment, US Army Europe. Mr. Steiger was discharged under honorable conditions on 26 October 1972 with the rank of Private 2 (E-2), and he earned the National Defense Service Medal and M-14 Rifle Sharpshooter Qualification Badge.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Special Information:

PGR will provide a respectful flag line for arrival of the family, and during the calling hours from 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM. The funeral service is scheduled for 1:30 PM. Following the service and dignified transfer, PGR will provide an escort to Elmlawn Memorial Park, 3939 Delaware Ave, Buffalo, NY 14217 for interment with Military Honors.

Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are securely attached.
