About the Mission:

The family of Cold War veteran Kenneth F. Holly has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service. Mr. Holly passed away on 23 August at the age of 88.

Quoting from the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home obituary: "Ken was a graduate of Nunda High School, class of 1954, and a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1958 to 1960. During his service he was stationed in Korea for 13 months. He was an active member of the Nunda VFW post 8961 and was a former Post Commander.

Ken maintained a small family farm and was employed by the Town of Portage Highway Department.  Later, he delivered concrete for Cipriano Brothers and then returned to the Town of Portage where he served as Highway Superintendent until his retirement. After his retirement he remained active with both the Livingston and Wyoming County Highway Superintendents Associations. In 2000, he was named Citizen of the Millennium for the Town of Portage and in 2006 he was named Senior Citizen of the Year for Livingston County. He was a member of the Nunda United Methodist Church and a 35-year member of the Genesee Falls Fire Company."

Special Information:

PGR will provide a respectful flag line for arrival of the family and friends, and during the 1-hour visitation from 1:00-2:00 PM. The funeral service is scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM. Following the service and dignified transfer, PGR will provide an escort (7 miles) to Pennycook Cemetery, Bailey Rd./Pennycook Rd., Hunt, NY 14846 for interment with military honors.

Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are securely attached for the 7-mile escort. Thank you for devoting your time on Sunday to help honor the service and life of Kenneth F. Holly, and to support his loving family.
