About the Mission:
Bob Hoover's family has asked Patriot Guard Riders to participate in celebrating his life and service to us all. Mr. Hoover passed 06 March 2024 at the age of 81.
Bob served in the Navy as a Lieutenant (LT, O-3) with a primary specialty of 2539 - Legal Military Law. He is a Vietnam War veteran who served four years and one month from 1965 - 1969, including three years of foreign duty in Vietnam. During that time, Bob flew over 80 combat missions. Bob was honorably discharged 29 August 1969 and completed his reserve obligation 27 January 1971.
Mr. Hoover earned: Air Medal w/ 3 bronze stars (4 awards), Navy Unit Commendation w/ 1 bronze star (2 awards), Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.
Special Information:
PGR members will form a flag line at approximately 10:15am for the arrival of the family at the funeral home. We will hold the flag line through calling hours, expected to end at 1:00pm. Services are expected to begin at 1:00pm with military honors to occur at the end. PGR members will participate in the military portion of the services. There is no escort or cemetery involved with this mission.
Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Navy flag, and dress for the weather. Thank you for devoting your time to help honor the US Navy, Vietnam War service of John Robert "Bob" Hoover and to support his loving family.
