About the Mission:
The family of US Army Vietnam Veteran John F.Portik has requested PGR presence to stand an honorable flagline before his funeral mass and at his interment. John passed Dec.15,2022. This mission has been rescheduled from Dec.23,2022 because of a stand down for bad weather.
Born in Niagara Falls, John was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed at Occidental Chemical Corp as a Chemical Operator, retiring in 1998 after 31 years. He was active with the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 681 where he served as a President. He was dedicated to aiding the veterans suffering from PTSD, and took pride in serving them meals and comfort monthly. He was also instrumental in assisting the homeless Veterans.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.
Special Information:
PGR will stand an honorable flag line for the arrival of family and friends for a 12:00 pm funeral mass. After mass and a dignified transfer, PGR will escort our hero and family to St Joseph Cemetery, 3806 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls for interment with military honors. Please be on time with an American or US Army flag. Dress for the weather.
