About the Mission:
The family of James Sterlace has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service. Mr. Sterlace of Lancaster, NY passed away on 24 October 2022 at the age of 91.
Mr. Sterlace served our nation for 4 years on active duty in the US Navy from 1948-1952, with a rating of Aviation Electronics Technician (AT). His duty stations included Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland, where he was honorably discharged from active duty on 9 September 1952 with the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class (E-4). Mr. Sterlace earned the National Defense Service Medal and Cold War Service Medal.
Mr. Sterlace was very involved in several veteran-related organizations, including: Past Adjutant of The American Legion Brooks Shepard Post No. 765; Past Commander, Adjutant and Chaplain of The American Legion Post 1528; member of ECAL Past Commanders Club; Life Member of Buddy Knaus AMVETS Post 14; and member of 40&8 Voiture 51.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.
Special Information:
PGR will provide a respectful flag line for the arrival of the family and guests.
The funeral service is scheduled to begin at 10:00 am.
Following the service and dignified transfer, PGR will provide an escort to Lakeside Cemetery, 4810 Camp Rd, Hamburg, NY 14075 for burial with Military Honors.
