About the Mission:

The family of Vietnam War Era Veteran James N. Montroy, Sr. has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service. Mr. Montroy of South Buffalo, NY passed away on 12 October 2023.

Mr. Montroy, Sr. served our nation for 5 years on active duty in the US Army from 1962-1967, with an Army MOS of 94B40-Cook. He had 12 months of foreign service in the US Army Pacific, including Laos, Thailand and Korea. Mr. Montroy was honorably discharged from active duty on 18 July 1967 with the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6), and he earned the following awards: Army Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; M-1 Rifle Sharpshooter Qualification Badge; M-14 Rifle Expert Qualification Badge; and Machine Gun Expert Gunner Badge.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Updated 8 March 2022

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

PGR will provide a respectful flag line for the arrival of the family, and during the calling hours from 4:00-5:30 PM. The funeral service and Military Honors is scheduled for 5:30 PM, after which the Mission will conclude. There is no escort or cemetery involved in this Mission.

Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, and dress for the weather. Thank you for devoting your time to help honor the US Army service of James N. Montroy, Sr., and to support his loving family.
