About the Mission:
Patriot Guard Riders has been honored with the request to stand a flag line during the funeral service for James A. Strauss, an amazing WWII Veteran. James, 99, passed on Monday, November 14, 2022.
A graduate of Franklin High School, James served in the Navy from 1944 - 1946, stateside, building torpedoes for submarines. He retired from the Navy as a Petty Officer 2nd Class. James is a Monroe County Sheriff retiree with 20 years of service and a 60 year member of the Lakeshore Fire Department where he is one of 3 members enshrined on the LSFD Wall of Fame.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.
Special Information:
We will stand an honorable flag line for arrival of guests at the church. At the end of the service, we will assemble in the church for a flag line during playing of Taps. There are no escorts or burial for this mission. Please bring your clean 3x5 flag or a Navy flag to the mission. Weather will be cold so dress accordingly.
