About the Mission:

The family of Ivan "Fred" Wilson III has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service. Mr. Wilson of Bolivar, NY passed away on 19 May 2023 following a long illness.

Mr. Wilson served our nation for 3 years, 9 months on active duty in the US Marine Corps from 1969-1972, with an MOS of 6531-Aircraft Ordnance Technician. He had a total of almost 2 years of foreign duty in Vietnam, Thailand, and Okinawa. Mr. Wilson's final duty assignment was with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 115 (VMFA-115), Marine Air Group 15, 1st Marine Air Wing, Fleet Marine Force, Japan. Mr. Wilson was honorably discharged from active duty on 15 December 1972 with the rank of Corporal (E-4), and he earned the following awards: Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Marine Corps Meritorious Mast; Vietnam Service Medal w/2 Bronze Service Stars; Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Commendation Civil Action Award 1st Class w/Palm & Frame; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; and Marine Rifle Expert Qualification Badge.

Mr. Wilson was a member of both the Kenyon Andrus Post 772 American Legion in Bolivar, and the Cuba VFW Post 2721.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

PGR will provide a respectful flag line for the arrival of the family and friends. The funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 AM. Following the service and dignified transfer, PGR will provide an escort to Maple Lawn Cemetery at the intersection of Route 417 & Foreman Hollow Road, 1-1/2 miles south of Bolivar, for burial with Military Honors.

Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Marine Corps flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are securely attached.
