About the Mission:

The family of Gary D. Mowers has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service. Mr. Mowers of Bergen, NY passed away on 1 September 2023.

Mr. Mowers served our nation for almost 3 years on active duty in the US Army from 1965-1968, with an Army MOS of 71H2S, Personnel Specialist. He had a 12-month deployment to South Vietnam, and was a member of the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), 1st Special Forces. Mr. Mowers was honorably discharged from active duty on 2 August 1968 with the rank of Specialist Five (E-5), and he earned the following awards: Bronze Star Medal; Army Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Army Parachutist Badge; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; and 2 Army Overseas Service Bars.

Mr Mowers was a member of the Sackett Merrill White American Legion Post in Bergen, NY.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Special Information:

PGR will stand by with a respectful flag line for the arrival of the funeral director and family. KSU at 9:35 AM for the escort to W.NY National Cemetery,1254 Indian Falls Rd, Corfu, NY 14036 for the 10:00 AM Committal Service and Military Honors.

Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, and dress for the weather. Thank you for devoting your time to help honor the U.S. Army Vietnam War service of Mr. Gary D. Mowers, and to support his loving family.
