About the Mission:
The family of very proud US Marine Corps WW-II veteran Elsie Jo Hartmann has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring her extraordinary life and service to our nation. Mrs. Hartmann passed away on 26 August 2024 at the age of 102.
Mrs. Hartmann served our nation on active duty in the US Marine Corps for over 2 years from 1943-1945. She enlisted as part of the second group of women to become a US Marine, and she was assigned to Marine Headquarters in Arlington, VA. Mrs. Hartmann's responsibilities included keeping records of blueprints, making shop changes in blueprints and operation sheets, and overseeing the files for these records.
Mrs. Hartmann achieved the rank of Sergeant, and she received her honorable discharge from active duty on 23 November 1945. Sgt Hartmann earned the following awards for her service to our nation: American Campaign Medal; WW-II Victory Medal; and WW-II Honorable Discharge Button.
Mrs. Hartmann was a proud participant on Honor Flight Rochester's Mission #35 in June, 2014.

PGR will provide an escort at 9:00 AM to Greenmount Cemetery, 10071 Greenmount Avenue, Dansville, NY 14437 for interment with military honors.
Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or USMC flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are securely attached.
