About the Mission:

The family of Donald C. Valone has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service. Mr. Valone passed away on 30 April 2023.

Mr. Valone first served 1-1/2 years in the US Air Force from 1951-1952, including 3 months in Korea, assigned to the 17th Installation Squadron. He was honorably discharged from active duty in October 1952 with the rank of Airman 2nd Class, and he earned the National Defense Service Medal; Korean Service Medal; and United Nations Service Medal (Korea).

Mr. Miller went on to serve in the NY Army National Guard, assigned to Battery-A, 2nd Missile Battalion, 209th Artillery Brigade in Grand Island, NY. Military service details for that period are pending, but we know Mr. Miller served as a Military Police Officer, and he was honorably discharged from the NYS Army National Guard on 31 March 1970 with the rank of Specialist Four.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Special Information:

PGR will provide a respectful flag line for arrival of the family and friends. The Christian Memorial Service is scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM. Following the service and dignified transfer, PGR will escort the short distance to Harris Hill Cemetery, 8401 Main Street (Rt. 5), Williamsville, NY 14221 for burial with Military Honors.

Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American, US Air Force or US Army flag, and dress for the weather.
