About the Mission: | Patriot Guard Riders has been requested to stand in honor of the life and service of Dennis G. Wittmeyer of Boston, NY, who passed away on 7 April 2022. Mr. Wittmeyer served our nation for 2 years on active duty in the US Army Corps of Engineers from 1965-1967, with an MOS of 81D20-Map Compiler. He served 12 months in the Republic of Vietnam. Mr. Wittmeyer was assigned to the 21st Engineer Company, Office of Chief Engineer (OCE), and he was honorably discharged from active duty at Fort Belvoir, VA on 9 November 1967 with the rank of Specialist 5th Class (E-5.) Mr. Wittmeyer earned the following awards: National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; 1 Overseas Bar; and Rifle Marksman Qualification Badge. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters. |
Special Information: | PGR will stand by with a respectful flag line for arrival of the family and friends. KSU at approx. 10:30 AM for the escort (approx. 12 miles) to Lakeside Cemetery, 4810 Camp Road, Hamburg, NY 14075 for the 11:00 AM graveside service with Military Honors. Click here to view map NOTE: If you're unable to participate in the escort, please consider staging directly at the cemetery by 10:15 AM with a flag line for arrival of the cortege. Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are securely attached.
