About the Mission:

The family of Cold War veteran Dean E. Shaffer has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in honoring his life and service. Mr. Shaffer of Geneseo, NY passed away on 29 December 2024.

Mr. Shaffer served our nation for 2 years on active duty in the US Army Infantry from 1954-1956, with an Army MOS of 112.00-Heavy Weapons Infantry. He was assigned to Headquarters Company, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, and he had 18 months of foreign service, including in South Korea. Mr. Shaffer was honorably discharged from active duty on 11 September 1956, with Reserve obligation completed on 27 September 1962. Mr. Shaffer earned the Army Good Conduct Medal; Cold War Service Commemorative Medal; and and M-1 Rifle Marksman Badge.

Special Information:

This is a graveside service only. There is no escort involved in this Mission. PGR will provide a respectful flag line for arrival of Mr. Shaffer and his family. The service with military honors is scheduled for 10:00 AM.  Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, and dress for the weather.
