About the Mission:

The family of Retired U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 3 Laura M. Baryza has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring her extraordinary military service. CW3 Baryza of Hamburg, NY passed away suddenly on 9 June 2023.

CW3 Baryza served our nation during the Gulf War Era and GWoT on active duty for over 20 years in the US Army from 1988-2008, in the areas of Supply and Logistics Systems. She had a total of over 3 years of foreign service, including deployments to Korea, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Somalia while serving with the 10th Mountain Division Aviation Unit. CW3 Baryza received her honorable retirement on 31 May 2008, and she earned the following awards for her service to our nation: Meritorious Service Medal (2 Awards); Army Commendation Medal (5 Awards); Army Achievement Medal (3 Awards); Joint Meritorious Unit Award; Army Good Conduct Medal (2 Awards); National Defense Service Medal (2 Awards); Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Korean Defense Service Medal; Humanitarian Service Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal; NCO Professional Development Ribbon (2 Awards); Army Service Ribbon; Army Overseas Service Ribbon; and the NATO Medal.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

PGR will stand a respectful flag line for the arrival of family and friends. The Memorial Service is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM. Following the service and dignified transfer, PGR will provide the escort to Lakeside Cemetery, 4810 Camp Rd, Hamburg, NY 14075 for interment with Military Honors.

Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are securely attached.
This is a very busy week in the Region. Please do your best to help support the various Missions, including this one for an extraordinary US Army Veteran, CW3 Laura M. Baryza, and to support her loving and grieving family.
