About the Mission:

The family of US Army (Ret) Colonel Andrew M. Danwin has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service. COL Danwin passed away unexpectedly on 21 May 2023 at the age of 58 in Austin, TX. COL Danwin was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, and veteran of the Gulf War and Global War on Terrorism.

COL Danwin served our nation for 30 years on active duty in the US Army from 1990-2020. He had a total of 12-1/2 years of foreign service, including multiple deployments to Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait, and Egypt. COL Danwin was honorably retired on 31 August 2020, and his extensive list of awards are as follows: Legion of Merit Medal w/1 Bronze Oak leaf Cluster (2 Awards); Bronze Star Medal w/3 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters (4 Awards); Defense Meritorious Service Medal; Meritorious Service Medal w/1 Silver and 2 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters (8 Awards); Joint Service Commendation Medal; Army Commendation Medal w/1 Silver and 2 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters (8 Awards); Joint Service Achievement Medal; Army Achievement Medal w/1 Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster (2 Awards); Joint Meritorious Unit Award w/1 Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster (2 Awards); Meritorious Unit Commendation Award w/1 Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster (2 Awards); Army Superior Unit Award; Army Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal w/1 Bronze Service Star (2 Awards); Southwest Asia Service Medal w/1 Bronze Service Star (2 Awards); Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal w/3 Campaign Stars (4 Awards); Iraq Campaign Medal w/1 Campaign Star (2 Awards); Army Service Ribbon; Army Overseas Service Ribbon w/Numeral "9" (9 Awards); NATO Medal; Multinational Force & Observers Medal; Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia); Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait); Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal w/2 Campaign Stars (3 Awards); Combat Action Badge; Pathfinder Badge; Master Parachutist Badge; Senior Parachutist Badge; Parachutist Badge; and Parachute Rigger Badge.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

PGR will stand a respectful flag line during calling hours from 6:00-7:30 PM. Services are scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM, followed by PGR Honors.
NOTE: Interment and Military Honors will take place in Texas.

Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, and dress for the weather.
