About the Mission:
The family of Charles "Charlie" Schmidt has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his services and celebrating his life. Charlie passed away on 30 June 2023.
Mr. Schmidt served in the US Air Force during the Korean War, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSgt, E-5). He earned: National Defense Service Medal, Korean War Service Medal, and United Nations Service Medal, Korea.
Charlie had a long career at Rochester Gas and Electric. Through the years, his volunteer work included The Geneseo War Plane Museum, Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue, Intervol and Patriot Guard Riders.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.
Special Information:
PGR members will stage at the funeral home at 11:30 am to be ready for the arrival of the family. Prior to 12:00 pm, PGR members will perform a dignified transfer. At 12:00 pm, PGR will escort the cortege to: White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Rd., Pittsford, NY 14534 Click here for map
Mr. Schmidt's daughter will ride with us on her father's trike. Services at White Haven Memorial Park are scheduled for 1:30 pm. If you are unable to participate in the escort, please stage at the front of White Haven to join the procession as it enters the cemetery. PGR members will perform a dignified transfer at the gravesite which is along the Nature Trail. We will stand a flag line during services and participate in the services. Following the services, PGR members will provide a final salute as a group.
Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Air Force flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are securely attached. Thank you for devoting your time to help honor US Air Force Veteran and PGR Member Charles "Charlie" Schmidt, and to support his loving family.
