About the Mission:
The family of Korean War veteran Carmen Scalzi has requested Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor his life and service to our country. Carmen passed on March 3,2023 at the age of 92 yrs.
During his service, Carmen attained the rank of Staff Sgt as a Tank Leader. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Korean Service Medal, Navy Unit Citation, and the UN Medal (Korea).
Carmen was also a Gold Star Father. His son, Carmen F. Scalzi, Jr., died on 18 November 1975 when a vehicle that he was driving overturned. He was stationed with an armor division at Camp Baumholder, West Germany.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.
Special Information:
PGR members will stand an honorable silent flagline for the arrival of family and guests for an 11:00 Funeral Mass. After the service mass and an honorable transfer, PGR members will escort our hero and family to Mt Calvary Cemetery, 800 Pine Ridge Rd., Cheektowaga, New York for interment with military honors. Please arrive on time with an American or US Marine Corps Flag and dress for the weather.
