About the Mission:
The family of Cold War and Vietnam War Era veteran Carl R. Johnston has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in honoring his life and military service. Mr. Johnston of Avon, NY passed away on 2 February 2025 at the age of 72.
Mr. Johnston served in the NY Army National Guard Armor Branch for 6 years from 1971-1977, including active duty for training from October 1971-February 1973. His Army MOS was 63C20-Mechanic, and he was assigned to Troop C, 1st Squadron, 101st Cavalry in Geneseo, NY. Mr. Johnston received his honorable discharge on 1 August 1977 with the rank of Specialist Four (E-4), and he earned the National Defense Service Medal and Cold War Service Commemorative Medal.

This is a graveside service only, there is no escort involved in this Mission. PGR will provide a respectful flag line for arrival of the family and funeral home personnel. The service with military honors is scheduled for 11:00 AM. Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, and dress for the weather.
