About the Mission:
The family of Alvin M. Parker of Buffalo, NY has requested PGRNY participation in honoring their Hero, who passed away on 21 August 2022.
Mr. Parker served our nation for 4 years on active duty in the US Marine Corps from 1960-1964, with a Marine Corps MOS of 3531-Motor Vehicle Operator. He had 13 months of foreign service at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan. Mr. Parker was honorably discharged from active duty on 4 September 1964 with the rank of Corporal (E-4), and he earned the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Cold War Service Medal.
Note of Interest: Alvin M. Parker is the very proud direct descendent of Union Army Lt. Col. Ely Samuel Parker, a Tonawanda Seneca from Pembroke, NY. Lt. Col. Parker became prominent as a lawyer, engineer, diplomat and one of the top aides to Ulysses S. Grant, and he drafted the terms of surrender and was present when Robert E. Lee surrendered to Grant at Appomattox Court House, effectively ending the Civil War.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: NYS Guidelines of 2 March 2022, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.
Special Information:
PGR will provide a respectful flag line for arrival of the family and guests. The funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 AM. Following the service and dignified transfer, PGR will provide an escort to St. Matthew's Cemetery, 180 French Rd, West Seneca, NY 14224 for interment with Military Honors. Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or USMC flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are securely attached.
