About the Mission:

The family of retired US Army First Sergeant Paul J. Stack, Sr. has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service. 1SG Stack passed away on 10 November 2023.

1SG Stack served our nation during the Vietnam War Era, Cold War and Persian Gulf War for 20 years on active duty in the US Army from 1971-1991, including a total of 7-1/2 years of foreign service. His MOS for the first 6-1/2 years was 11B50-Infantryman; and for the final 13-1/2 years he held the MOS of 67Z5M-Aircraft Maintenance Senior Sergeant. 1SG Stack's, final assignment was with Bravo Company, 1st Aviation Regiment, 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kansas. 1SG (E-8) Stack was honorably retired on 31 August 1991, and during his career he earned the following awards: Bronze Star Medal; Meritorious Service Medal; Army Commendation Medal; Army Achievement Medal (2 Awards); Army Good Conduct Medal (6 Awards); National Defense Service Medal (2 Awards); Southwest Asia Service Medal (3 Awards); NCO Professional Development Ribbon (3 Awards); Aircraft Crewman Badge; and Weapons Qualification Badges.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

PGR will stage in preparation to provide an escort (KSU at 10:00 AM) to St. Joseph's Cemetery, Ellicott Street (Rt. 63), Batavia, NY for interment with Military Honors.
Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, dress for the weather , and ensure your large flags are securely attached. Thank you for devoting your time to help honor the extraordinary US Army career of First Sergeant Paul J. Stack, Sr., and to support his loving family.
