Volunteer Opportunities
Want to do more to help?
Attending Missions and standing Flag Lines are great ways to honor the veterans who have served our country and to pay them the respect they deserve at the end of their days. However, there are many more ways to give back to the men and women that have served in our military while they are still with us and are in need of help.
PGR NY has many opportunities for volunteers. Everything from short term helping with a fundraiser, to positions within the Help On The Homefront program, to presentations to other organizations and more. We welcome volunteers who like to work behind the scenes and may not have the ability or inclination to stand in a flag line, but would like to help in our various activities that assist our military service members and our organization.
Every year, on the closest Saturday to Flag Day, our Region 2 members hold the Annual Heroes Run. This event honors a KIA and their family from the area. The event consists of a memorial ride from the event location to typically the hometown of the KIA where a memorial dedication is made. The ride then proceeds back to the event site for a brief ceremony, music, food and raffles. To see past events please visit the event website Annual Heroes Run.
Volunteers are needed to assist in the planning and organizing of this event. Areas needing assistance are securing the location, entertainment, food services, volunteers, and planning the route for the ride. Volunteers are also needed on the day of the event to help register riders, sell raffle tickets, set up the event place itself, parking/security, and sometimes food service.
Bookmark the event site for all details of the upcoming event and contact information on how to volunteer.
