About the Mission:

The family of Michael P. Connelly, Sr. has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Michael, 85, entered Eternal Life Friday, October 28, 2022 at Evergreen Commons.

Born in Troy, NY Michael was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy and a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He enlisted on 15 February 1956 and was trained as a Message Center Man (MOS 2543). He served almost 15 months overseas, assigned to the 3rd Marine Division, FMF, Okinawa, Japan. He was honorably discharged on 13 February 1959 at the rank of Corporal, and for his service, was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.

Michael was a former bartender and manager of Barnsider Restaurant and longtime employee of Kinetic Care & Smith & Nephew, Albany, NY. He had a passion for reading and history.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for the dignified transfer. Anticipated KSU of 09:30 am for escort to Historic Church of St Mary on Capitol HIll, 10 Lodge Street, Albany, NY 12207 for a 10:00 am Funeral service. Upon conclusion of services, members will escort to St. Agnes Cemetery, 48 Cemetery Ave., Menands, NY for interment with military honors.
