About the Mission:

The family of Joseph G. Barry has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services.  Joseph, 89, of Windham peacefully passed away on July 14, 2022.

Born and raised in Melrose, NY, Joseph graduated high school and joined the US Marine Corps on 7 March 1952.  He was trained as a Military Policeman and served a 15 month tour of duty in South Korea during the Korean War.  He was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal during March of 1955, and for his service, was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal.

After his military service, Joe pursued his love of art, becoming a Commercial Artist and Graphic Designer. Throughout his long life, he enjoyed his love of the outdoors. Spendings many trips with his children and grandchildren camping and earning the well given nickname of the “ Fire Master”! He lived in Colorado for many years taking long trips with friends on his Honda Gold Wing touring motorcycle. JB took up skiing at the age of 65 joining the O.C. Ski club of Albany, often bragging about skiing 30 or 40 times a year! He continued skiing well into his 80’s.

Portions of the above narrative are contained in Joe's obituary, available for viewing online by clicking here.
