About the Mission:

Patriot Guard Riders has been requested to stand and honor the life and service of John N. "Jack" Thomas.   John, age 86, passed away on Saturday May 13, 2023, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.

Born in Little Brownfield PA, Jack enlisted in the US Navy on 21 October 1954.  He served a total of 3 years and 11 months on active duty, including 3 years and 7 months at sea.  His time included duty aboard the USS Nespelen (AOG 55), a Patapsco-class gasoline tanker.  He completed active duty on 17 October 1958, and was honorably discharged on 20 October 1962 at the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class, and a rating of Engine Man (Diesel).

Jack worked most of his life as an auto mechanic. He retired from Mangino Buick GMC in Ballston Spa nearly 20 years ago. He loved his retirement job as a driver for local dealerships, going all over the Northeast to trade and pick up vehicles.

Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

We will stage flag line upon arrival and stand until escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for a 9:30 appointment.
