About the Mission:

The family of James Dowdall III has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. James, 73, a resident of Livingstonville, passed away at Cobleskill Regional Hospital on Thursday, December 15, 2022 after battling a long-time illness.

Born in Weehawken, NJ, Jim enlisted in the Marines on 13 May 1966, one month after his 17th birthday. He served as a Motor Vehicle Operator (Specialty Number 3531) and spent 13 months in Vietnam between 1967-1968. He was honorably discharged on 13 May 1969 at the rank of Corporal, and for his service, was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal w/"V" Device, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, and the Rifle Expert Badge.

Jim devoted his life to his family, who could count on him for anything. He had a passion for nature and enjoyed many hunting trips, although the latest hunting trips may have included a nap under a tree. A true sportsman, he was a member of the Middleburgh Rod and Gun Club.

Portions of the above narrative are contained in Jim's obituary, available for viewing online by clicking here
