About the Mission:

The family of William Charles Andrews has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. William, 95, of Halfmoon, NY passed peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on February 7, 2023.

Born in Albany, NY, Bill graduated from Christian Brothers Academy before he was inducted into the United States Navy on 10 August 1945. He served on active duty for 11 months, including time aboard the USS General George O. Squier (AP-130), a transport ship. He was honorably discharged on 7 July 1946 with a rating of Seaman 2nd Class. For his service, he was awarded the American Theater Medal, European Theater Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

After his military service, Bill attended Siena College where he received his B.S. in Chemistry. He earned his Masters in Biochemistry and Management Science at Siena and RPI, as well as continued graduate studies in Chemical Engineering, Paper-making, and Supervision. He was a faithful and devoted Catholic, he was an active member of St. Mary’s in Crescent, NY, as well a member of the Holy Names Society. He will be remembered for his volunteer work as the St. Mary’s Crescent parish traffic officer, where he became special deputy sheriff through Saratoga Sheriff’s Department.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for the dignified transfer. Anticipated departure at 09:15 for escort to St. Mary's Crescent Church, Waterford for a 10:00 am funeral service.
