About the Mission:

The family of Thomas H. Turner has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Thomas, 82, passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Gloversville, NY, Thomas graduated from Van Rensselaer High School in 1958 and enlisted in the US Marine Corps on 22 July of that year. He served as a Rifleman (MOS 0311) with the 2nd Marine Division in the United States Marine Corps, including time aboard the USS Boxer aircraft carrier.  He was honorably discharged on 22 July 1959 at the rank of Private First Class.

After his military service, Thomas was a Teamster with Local 294 for 37 years, working for Port Concrete and J.H. Maloy on many area sites including the Empire State Plaza. He drove and dispatched for Nash and Yellow Cabs. He also dispatched for Sears Petroleum at the Port of Albany, as well as tended bar at many local pubs.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for the arrival of family and guests. There will be a funeral service at 10:00 am, followed by escort to St. Mary's Cemetery, 5245 NY-203, Nassau, for interment with military honors.
