About the Mission:

Patriot Guard Riders has been requested by the family of Robert Burgardt to participate in his military honors funeral services. Robert, age 69, passed on June 18, 2022 in Springfield, IL.

Born in Hays, Kansas, Robert quit school and joined the US Army 30 September 1970.  He was trained as an Indirect Fire Crewman (MOS 11C2P).  He was honorably discharged on 28 September 1973 at the rank of Specialist 4th Class, and for his service was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Parachute Badge, Expert Infantryman's Badge, Expert Badge - Rifle (M-16), Expert Badge - Pistol (.45 cal.), and the Marksman Badge (HG). On May 24. 2013 He was awarded a Vietnam War Veteran Honorary High School Diploma form Granville High School. After a speech he received a standing ovation bringing tears to many.

Robert was a machinist in Wichita KS for several companies and later moved to New York and worked at Finch Pruyn for several years and also at several machine shops in Rutland, VT. He was a handyman to many people in Granville who will miss him.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: NYS Guidelines of 2 March 2022, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Please stage quietly and be aware of any services already in progress.

NOTE: If there is a service in progress at Interment Shelter 2, all riders are to stop and remain at the Solomon Memorial until those services conclude.
