About the Mission:

The family of Robert J. Fontaine, Sr. has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Robert, 93, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 20, 2023 at his residence.

Born in Cohoes, NY, Robert was a 1948 graduate of Catholic Central High School. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1950, and was trained as an Aviation Electronics Technician. He was assigned to Striker Composite Squadron 62 in Jacksonville, Florida, and had over a year of foreign service. He was honorably discharged in 1954 with a rating of Aviation Electronics Technician Airman (ATAN), and for his service was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon, Navy Occupation Service Medal (European Clasp), China Service Medal (Extended), Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Medal.

After his military service, Bob was a bakery manager at SUNY Albany for many years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Rotterdam Elks #2057, Thunder Rd. and Hart Seniors Club.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

Staging at the church with a flag line for the arrival of family and guests. Funeral services are scheduled for 09:00, followed by escort and interment with military honors at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 983 Watervliet Shaker Rd, Albany, NY 12205.
