About the Mission:

Patriot Guard Riders has been invited by the family to stand in honor of the life and service of Joseph J Oliva.

Mr. Oliva, upon graduation from Bayside High School in 1950, attended Cornell University and earned his BME degree and US Army Lieutenant’s commission through the ROTC Program. Following graduation, he completed radar maintenance officers’ course and was then deployed to Korea, where he commanded an Ordnance Field Maintenance company. Upon his discharge, Joseph started a career at General Electric doing systems analysis assignments in Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Schenectady where he finished out his career, retiring in 1998. While employed for GE, Joseph graduated from the Advanced Engineering course and was a member of the Elfun Society.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

We will stage for the arrival of family and dignified transfer and then provide an escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for an 11am service.
