About the Mission:

The family of Jon Carroll Armstrong has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Jon, 81, of Ballston Spa, NY, passed away on May 17th, 2023, with family by his side.

Born in Machias, Maine, Jon attended Machias High School. He enlisted in the United States Army on 13 August 1962, and was trained as a Defense Acquisition and Survival Radar Crewman (MOS 181.20), and was assigned to Company B, 501st Aviation Battalion, 1st Armored Division at Fort Hood, Texas. He was released from active duty on 12 August 1965, and honorably discharged at the rank of Specialist 5th Class (E-5) on 12 August 1968. For his service, Jon was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.

After his military service, Jon worked as a traveling salesman for Newco/Duramill for 30 years. His favorite saying was " I can sell ice to an Eskimo. " He was also passionate about Maine sports.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for a dignified transfer. An escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for an 09:30 interment service will follow.
