About the Mission:

The family of John H. "JW" Walsh, Jr. has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. John, 76, of Fultonville, passed away on Thursday January 5, 2023 at Albany Medical Center.

Born in Cobleskill, NY, John enlisted in the United States Air Force on 3 March 1965. He was trained as a Mechanical Accessories Equipment Repairman (AFSC 42251) and served for 3 years and 7 months on active duty, including 1 year and 5 months overseas. He was honorably discharged on 2 October 1968 at the rank of Sergeant (E-4), and completed his 2 year inactive reserve obligation on 2 March 1971. For his service, John was awarded the Air Force Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

Following his military service, John was employed for many years as an electrician for General Electric Company. He was passionate about motorcycles and was a member of the Over The Hill Gang (O.T.H.G.) New York Bike Club. He was also a member of the Rotterdam Eagles. Family was very important to John and always put them first. Besides being passionate about motorcycles, he had a great love for animals, horses, and hunting.

Visitation will be conducted on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Bond Funeral Home, between the hours of 4:00 and 8:00 pm. For those members wishing to attend as a group, please stage at the funeral home at 4:45 pm.  We will enter and pay our respects as a group at 5:00 pm.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for the arrival of family and guests. Funeral services are scheduled for 12:00 pm, followed by a dignified transfer and escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for interment with military honors.

Extended forecast calls for 50 degrees with chance of rain.  Members please use discretion if you decide to ride.
