About the Mission:

Patriot Guard Riders has been requested by the family of George Beckner to participate in his military honors funeral services.  George, 90, of Glens Falls, NY passed away on May 14, 2023, peacefully at his home with his family by his side.

Born in Liberty, West Virginia, George was called to active duty in the United States Air Force on 10 October 1950.  He was trained as a Fleet Manager (AFSC 60350), and served almost 4 years of active duty, including 10 months overseas at Seoul Airbase in South Korea.  He was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant on 2 September 1953 and, for his service, was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal.

George retired after 28 years as a Tower Superintendent for Finch Pruyn. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and time with his family. He held a record of 73-3 as a golden glove lightweight champion boxer.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

We will meet in the parking lot with the family, then provide an escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for an 11:30 am service. No funeral home is involved. No need for dignified transfer because he will already be in the transport vehicle.
