About the Mission:

Patriot Guard Riders has been requested to participate in the military honors funeral for US Army Vietnam Era Veteran Ernest "Bucky" Bessette.

Ernie Bessette enlisted in the US Army in August of 1964. As as Specialist E-5, he was a Kitchen Supervisor while serving his overseas commitment in Germany. He was honorably discharged in August of 1967. Upon returning home he became a welder for Finch Pruyn.

Many knew "Bucky" as a leader and well respected member of the local Teamsters. He had a great love for horses, especially of the draft horse variety. He was well known for taking a horse team from his home here in New York all the way out to California - a 6 month excursion. Many in PGR will remember Ernie as the handler of the horse drawn funeral carriage that carried the Civil War soldier being interred at Saratoga National Cemetery on September 17th, 2009

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Updated 8 March 2022

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: NYS Guidelines of 2 March 2022, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Special Information:

PGR will stage on the right side of the of the road near where Brookview Terrace intersects with Stafford Bridge Rd.  PGR will then meet up with the motorcycle carrying Ernie Bessette's cremains which will be traveling across Rt. 29 onto Stafford Bridge Rd.  KSU from location at approx 9:30am.  Interment with military honors scheduled for 10:00 am.

Second Stage - Special Information:

Note that there is a new staging protocol for Saratoga National Cemetery.  PGR members will stage by parking ONLY on the right side of the roadway near Section 21.  If that area is full, the overflow parking area will be on the right side of the roadway near Interment Shelter 1.  Please park as closely together as possible.  As always, you are asked to stage quietly and respectfully.  Interment services for this mission will be conducted in Interment Shelter 1.    Please click here to view a map of the designated area
