About the Mission:

UPDATED - The family of Andrew Durand has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Andrew, 30, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at Albany Medical Center.

Born in Rostov-On-Don, Russia, Andrew was a graduate of Guilderland High School and Hudson Valley Community College with a Paramedic Degree. He had been working on a degree in nursing at Maria College. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps on 26 March 2012, and was trained as an Aircraft Firefighter/Rescue Specialist (MOS 7051). He deployed overseas to Kuwait and Iraq for 7 months as part of Operation Inherent Resolve, and was later honorably discharged on 25 March 2016 at the rank of Corporal (E-4). For his service, Andrew was awarded the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal (Kuwait), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, SEA Service Deployment Ribbon and Sharpshooter Rifle Qualification Badge.

A natural caregiver, he was employed as a paramedic with Mohawk Ambulance in Schenectady. Andrew was a talented musician and composer. He loved reading, sports, nature and spending time with family and friends.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Updated 8 March 2022

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: NYS Guidelines of 2 March 2022, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

Staging at the church with a flag line for the dignified transfer, followed by escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for interment with military honors.  KSU 11:45 am with highway speeds anticipated.  Please ensure that your flags are securely attached.

Second Stage - Special Information:

Note that there is a new staging protocol for Saratoga National Cemetery. PGR members will stage by parking ONLY on the right side of the roadway near Section 21. If that area is full, the overflow parking area will be on the right side of the roadway near Interment Shelter 1. Please park as closely together as possible. As always, you are asked to stage quietly and respectfully. Interment services for this mission will be conducted in Interment Shelter 1. Please click here to view a map of the designated area
