About the Mission:

The family of Newton E. "Skip" Worthington, Jr. has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service. Mr. Worthington, formerly of Pembroke, NY, passed away on 15 September 2022 at his home in California.

Mr. Worthington served our nation for 4 years on active duty in the US Marine Corps from 1967-1971, with an MOS of 6055-Hydraulics Mechanic. Following Recruit Training at Parris Island, SC, he completed several training courses in Memphis, TN and El Toro, CA before being deployed to the Republic of Vietnam for 12 months, assigned to HMM-161, Marine Aircraft Group-16, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing at Phu Bai. Mr. Worthington was honorably discharged at Marine Corps Air Station New River, Jacksonville, NC on 5 October 1971 with the rank of Private First Class, and he earned the following awards: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Bronze Service Star, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation Cross of Gallantry w/Palm & Frame, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Cold War Service Medal.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

PGR will provide a respectful flag line for the arrival of the family and guests.  The Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11:00 AM.  Following the Mass and dignified transfer, PGR will provide an escort to the Indian Falls Cemetery (adjacent to the WNY National Cemetery, 1254 Indian Falls Rd, Corfu, NY 14036) for interment with Military Honors.  Please be prepared with a clean American or USMC flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are securely attached.
