About the Mission:

The family of Mr. Leonard M. Gessin, Sr. has asked PGR to participate in honoring their father's service to America at his funeral services.

Mr. Gessin served in the US Army, 14th Armored Cavalry Regiment for two years, 1952-1954. During that time, he attained the rank of Private First Class (PFC, E-3) with an MOS of 1814 - Counterfire operations sergeant. Mr. Gessin spent ten months in Germany as part of the US Cold War efforts.

Mr. Gessin earned: Army Occupation Medal Germany Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Cold War Service Medal, and Honorable Discharge Commemorative Medal.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Updated 8 March 2022

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: NYS Guidelines of 2 March 2022, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

At 9:30 a.m.,  PGR Members will form a flag line for the arrival of the family at the church.  At 10:00 a.m.,  the funeral services begin.  At 10:45 a.m., ThefFuneral services are expected to end and PGR members will perform a dignified transfer to the hearse for the escort.  An 11:30 a.m. arrival is expected at White Haven Memorial Park for services and military honors.  Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, and dress for the weather.

Second Stage - Special Information:

PGR Members,  please establish a flag line at the gravesite for the arrival of the cortege expected at approximately 11:30 a.m.  The gravesite location is: Sec. G, Lot 1006 Grave 3. 
Services planned for the gravesite are military honors and a committal prayer.  Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, and dress for the weather.
