About the Mission:

The family of James "Jim" Bickelman has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service. Mr. Bickelman of East Aurora, NY passed away on 5 January 2023.

Mr. Bickelman served our nation in the NY Army National Guard for 6 years from 1963-1969, with a specialty of Motor Transport Operator. Following graduation from boot camp at Fort Dix, he was assigned to Headquarters & headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 127th Armor, 3rd Brigade, 27th Armored Division at the Buffalo Armory. He also served periodically at Fort Dix, NJ as a Driver Instructor and a driver for the Colonel. Mr. Bickelman was Honorably Discharged from duty on 25 August 1969 with the rank of Specialist 4th Class (E-4.)

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

PGR will provide a respectful flag line for arrival of the family and friends during the calling hours from 10:30-11:30 AM.  The funeral service and military honors is scheduled for 11:30 AM.  There is no escort or cemetery involved in this Mission.  Please arrive with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, and dress for the weather.

NOTE: We have 2 Missions at the same time in Erie County. Please try to support one of the Missions, including this one in honor of the Army National Guard service of James "Jim" Bickelman, and in support of his loving family.
