About the Mission:

The family of US Army veteran James A. Montgomery has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services.  James, 77, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Bath VA Medical Center following a brief illness.

Mr. Montgomery was born in Oneonta, NY and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1963-1966. He was a long-distance truck driver from the time he left the Army in 1966 until his retirement in 2009. He drove for J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. of Rochester, Shaffer Trucking in New Kingstown, Pa. and most recently Midwest Continental, Inc. of Sioux City, Iowa.

Jim was an avid motorcycle rider and enjoyed watching radio-controlled air planes. He also was a ham radio operator and liked attending the local racecar events.  He was a life-long member of the Eldred American Legion Post 887,  the Eldred VFW Post 2092, and a long-time member of the Zoar Valley HOG.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

PGR will stand a flag line for the arrival of family and friends. Service with military honors will be at 11:00 am. After the service and dignified transfer, PGR will escort our hero and family to Maple Lawn Cemetery in Bolivar, NY for his interment.  Click here for map to cemetery  Please arrive with an American or US Army flag.
