About the Mission:

The family of Harvey Lewis Hunley has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service. Mr. Hunley passed away on 26 January 2023, just one day after turning 100 years of age.

Mr. Hunley served our nation for 3 years on active duty in the US Army from 1943-1946, with an Army MOS of 103-Laundry Machine Operator. He had 8-1/2 months of foreign duty in the Pacific Theater of Operations, and participated in the Battle of Luzon, Philippines. Mr. Hunley was honorably discharged from active duty on 23 March 1946 with the rank of Technician 5th Grade, and he earned the following awards: Army Good Conduct Medal; American Campaign Medal; Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal; Philippine Liberation Medal; WWII Victory Medal; and WWII Honorable Discharge Pin.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Special Information:

PGR will provide a respectful flag line for the arrival of the family and guests, and during calling hours from 11:00 AM -12:00 PM. The funeral service is scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM. NOTE:  The PGR plaque presentation will take place towards the end of the church service. Following the service and dignified transfer, PGR will escort to Lakeside Cemetery, Camp Road, Hamburg, NY for interment with Military Honors.  Click here for map to cemetery

Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are securely attached.
