About the Mission:

Patriot Guard Riders of NY has been requested to participate in bringing US Navy Veteran Gaeton A. Godios to his final resting place amongst his fellow Veterans. Mr.Godios is the father of our fellow PGR member Guy “Squirrel” Godios. Gaeton Godios passed away in 2008, and received Military Honors at that time. The family has decided that the WNY National Cemetery is the appropriate final resting place for this Hero.

Mr. Godios served in the US Navy for two periods: 1943-1946, and 1950-1951. During WW II he served as a Pharmacist’s Mate, and later as a Hospitalman (Corpsman.). Though technically a Sailor, Mr. Godios was quick to adopt the title of Marine, due to his training and service beside the Marines. During his WW II service Mr. Godios had multiple training schools and assignments, including 3rd Battalion, 16th Marines, several Naval Construction Battalions, USS LC1 (699), and USS Scurry (AM-304.)

Mr. Godios achieved the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class (E-5). For his WW II service, Mr. Godios received the following awards: Navy-Marine Combat Action Ribbon; American Campaign Medal: Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/2 Bronze Campaign Stars; Philippine Liberation Medal w/1 Bronze Service Star; and WWII Victory Medal.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: NYS Guidelines of 2 March 2022, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Special Information:

PGR will standby with a respectful flag line for arrival of the family.  KSU at 12:35 PM for the escort to WNY National Cemetery, 1254 Indian Falls Road, Corfu, NY 14036 for the 1:00 PM interment with PGR Honors. Please arrive with a clean 3x5 American or US Navy flag, and dress for the weather.
