About the Mission:

The family of Vietnam Veteran Francis P. LaMonte of Buffalo, NY has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service. Mr. LaMonte passed away on 29 April 2023.

Mr. LaMonte served our nation in the US Navy Seabees for a total of 2-1/2 years, including 15 months of active duty from 1969-1970. His naval Rating was Fireman (FN), and he did a full 12-month tour in South Vietnam. He was a ssigned to Naval Support Activity (NSA) in Saigon, An Thoi Detachment. Mr. LaMonte's family has related that he was assigned to a Marine Corps unit due to his capabilities as a mechanic and engineer. Mr. LaMonte was honorably discharged from active duty on 26 July 1970, and he earned the National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Mr. LaMonte went on to receive a degree in Occupational Therapy, and spent 25 years serving our Veterans at the Buffalo VA Medical Center.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Special Information:

PGR will provide a respectful flag line for the arrival of the family and friends. The Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:30 AM.  Following Mass and the dignified transfer, PGR will provide an escort to Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 4000 Elmwood Ave, Kenmore, NY 14217 for interment with Military Honors.  Click here for map to cemetery

Please be prepared with a 3x5 American, US Navy, or US Marine Corps flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are securely attached.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We have four (4) funeral Missions on Saturday in Region-1. Please do your best to support at least one of them.
