About the Mission:
The family of Donald F. Ryan of Holley, NY has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service. Mr. Ryan passed away 4 December 2022.
Mr. Ryan served our nation for 4 years on active duty in the US Navy from 1951-1954, with a Naval Rating of SKSN-Seaman, Storekeeper Striker. He had almost 2 years of sea service aboard the USS Howard W. Gilmore (AS-16), a Fulton-class submarine tender. As part of Submarine Squadron 4, the ship was stationed in Florida serving submarines on their training and readiness duties. Mr. Ryan was honorably discharged from active duty on 18 January 1954, and he earned the Navy Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
Mr. Ryan served actively for over 65 years in the Holley Fire Department. He was a Past Chief, Fire Policeman, and Fire Marshall.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.
PGR will stage in preparation to provide a 2-mile escort to St. Marys Holy Cross Cemetery, 4100 South Holley Road, Holley, NY for the 1:00 PM Graveside service with military honors.
Please arrive with a clean 3x5 American or US Navy flag, and dress for the weather. Thank you for devoting your time to help honor the US Naval and lifetime 1st Responder service of Donald F. Ryan, and to support his loving family.
IMPORTANT NOTE: We have four (4) funeral Missions on Saturday in Region-1. Please do your best to support at least one of them.
