Region 4, Region 5

About the Mission:

The family of Sergeant Major Michael C. McClure has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Sergeant Major McClure, 76, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, on October 7, 2023.

Born in Buffalo, NY, Michael attended Kenmore East High School before moving to the Capital Region, graduating from Shendehowa High School in 1965. Inspired by his father, Michael entered Army basic training after high school, marking the commencement of his proud military career. Michael returned to Buffalo and embarked on his 37-year career with the Army National Guard. He served at the Nike Hercules Missile Base in Buffalo, the same base where his father, a Colonel, was stationed. He continued his career in the Capital District at the New Scotland Avenue Armory, the 42nd Infantry Division Rainbow in Troy, and the New York State Division of Military and Naval Affairs. Mike rose to the rank of Sergeant Major before retiring in 2003.

Michael was a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan and displayed his devotion to the team whenever he could. His commitment to service extended into his community, where he volunteered with the Midway Fire Department in Colonie for 10 years.

Portions of the above narrative are contained in Sergeant Major McClure's obituary, available for viewing online by clicking here.
