About the Mission:

The family of Nicholas Maura, Sr. has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Nicholas, 90, passed on June 25, 2022.

Nicholas served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 until the war’s end. The 21-year-old was stationed above the 38th parallel as a 50-caliber machine gunner and was wounded in the leg and the neck during combat. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal.  For his service he was awarded the Purple heart, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge.

After the war, he returned to Rotterdam, his childhood home, before marrying and settling down in Princetown a few years later.
