About the Mission: | The family of MSgt Daniel J. McLoughlin has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Dan, 53, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on May 30, 2022. Born in Troy, NY, Dan was a 1986 graduate of Troy High School and went on to continue his education at Hudson Valley Community College. Dan proudly defended his country in the United States Air Force. He enlisted in 1988 and was active duty until 1992. Dan started his career with the Stratton Air Force Base in Scotia in 1993. MSgt Dan McLoughlin, US Air Force 109th ANG, served 33 years of creditable military service. He volunteered to support numerous military campaigns and deployments around the globe, to include the 109th Airlift Wing’s polar mission to Greenland and Antarctica. Dan served the majority of his career at the 109th AW as an Aircraft Mechanic; having chartered his path to earn his position as the Dedicated Crew Chief of C-130 Aircraft 489. For his service, Dan was awarded the Air Force Achievement Medal w/2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Meritorious Unit Award, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award w/5 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Good Conduct Medal w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal w/6 Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service medal w/1 Service Star, Antarctica Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal w/1 Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Ribbon Short w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon with Gold Border and 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Longevity Service w/2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Armed Forces Reserve medal w/1 Hourglass Device, Small Arms Marksmanship Ribbon (Rifle), Air Force Training Ribbon and the NATO Medal w/1 Service Star. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters. |
Special Information: | Staging at the church with a flag line for the arrival of the funeral cortege and dignified transfer. Parking at the church is very limited and a very large contingent of active-duty USAF personnel is expected for the services. Members should anticipate parking some distance from the church. Service scheduled to begin at 10:00 am. |
